What is Remedial Massage?
Remedial massage therapists are trained to access and treat muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissue to help soreness, recovery from injury and injury prevention.
A remedial massage therapist may use different musculoskeletal techniques such as deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, myofacial release, cupping and heat therapy all with the aim of reducing pain and helping the body to functional more optimally.
MASSAGE AT GOOD SELF:
All of our therapists are experienced in working collaboratively with other health care practitioners – massage therapy is an excellent complement to osteopathy, acupuncture, myotherapy and Pilates.
Our massage space will be set-up just for you in an ambient, relaxing environment so that you can truly unwind to allow for the best possible treatment addressing your specific concerns.
We offer 1 hour and 30 minute sessions that allow for regular inclusion into your usual exercise or clinical treatment plan.
What to expect during your massage session:
Before we get you on the table for treatment, your therapist will spend time with you finding out your specific concerns and provide an initial assessment to ensure that your treatment is specific and effective.
You will be asked to remove your clothes, down to your underwear but you’ll always be covered during your treatment – as your privacy and safety is considered as a priority. If you don’t feel comfortable with certain areas of your body being exposed or would prefer certain areas to not be treated, please let your therapist know so that they can adapt the session to ensure your comfort.
After your session your therapist will suggest that your drink plenty of water and recommend any next steps that you should take if further treatment is necessary.
